Sewing box with rare decoration
A ridged red leather domed box. Decorated with steel studs and a steel carrying handle. A mirror inside the lid. All matching and complete sewing tools in mother of pearl items decorated with tiny drops of red and green enamel. Some tools had the enamel pansy as well, inside the enamel dot design. A very unusual, delicate design in beautiful condition. French c.1800.
Rare Palais Royal with enamels.
Approx 8ins or 16cms long. The curved bombe lid is covered in red leather ridges, the sides covered in plain red leather. Either ends of the lid are encircled by little steel studs curving over it. A decorative chain steel carrying handle. When opened, reveals a mirror in the lid. The complete set of sewing tools fashioned in mother-of-pearl. Each item is decorated with tiny drops of red and green enamel. Also, the bigger items, bear the enamel pansy, The trade mark of Palais Royal
Each piece is in excellent condition. In my opinion, it may have been a one off private order and maybe rarely used. An exquisite piece.
