The rare, legendary, Piercy's Patent thimble, English patent no 4077. Made from tortoise shell, with silver tops and gold or pinchbeck embellishments there are various designs, all rare, including the tipped shield, or decorative cartouche. The words ‚Piercy‚s Patent‚ appear on the reverse of this item. On the front, a decorative gold cartouche with initials ‚PH‚ I think! The initials are so decoratively done. The cartouche is surrounded by flower garlands.
