Toleware tray F202

Tray painted on tin, known as Tole ware. Originally in the late 19th Century, cheap tin trays were sent to Wales to be painted to stop them rusting. They were a sort of folk art and became extremely popular. They were also exported abroad. Some were decorated, some were plain black to be painted locally.
